It was a very fun experience cooking with tahini for my first time. The chocolate tahini cookies smelled delicious when we took them out of the oven. I couldn’t wait to try them. They reminded of mandal bread.
This is a good cookie for beginner bakers. There are not too many ingredients. And, it takes about five minutes to mix everything together.

Ingredients
1/2 cup raw/pure tahini*
3 Tbsp pure maple syrup
1 large egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup chocolate chips
*Allergy warning: Tahini is made from sesames.
instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees f. and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat.
- Whisk together the tahini, maple syrup, egg, vanilla extract, and baking soda in a bowl. Fold in the chocolate chips and give a final mix.
- Pour into a long log shape on the baking sheet. Use a spatula to shape the dough. Don’t worry if the dough is flat. It will rise up.
- Bake for 15 minutes (longer if you want crunchier).
- Remove from oven and slice into sticks while you set aside to cool.
